YOUR RIGHTS AND PROTECTIONS AGAINST SURPRISE MEDICAL BILLS (OMB Control Number: 0938-1401)

Under the No Surprises Act, healthcare providers are required to provide clients who do not have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

• You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services.

• If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your GFE, you can dispute the bill.

• Florida:  Contact the Florida Department of Health at floridahealth.gov or the No Surprises Help Desk at 1-800-985-3059. 

•  Maine: Contact the Board of Counseling Professionals Licensure at maine.gov/pfr.
